Campaign 2015

RUBIC club

The RUBIC club, founded in 2013, is a volunteer group which is committed to supporting Vietnamese children with special behavioral, mental and cognitive needs. Our past projects have included translation of English materials into Vietnamese, free skill training sessions for parents and volunteers, summer camps for children with special needs. What we have learned from the past two years is that  low level of community awareness and resources devoted to the health care and education of children with special needs is one of the biggest barriers to improving the quantity and quality of services for the children and their family.

The role of VnBookDrive

Earlier in 2015, a RUBIC  team member came up with the idea of collaborating with VnBookDrive after reading about the project and the libraries it had helped build in Vietnam. 6 months later, in June 2015, VnBookDrive and RUBIC established a formal partnership and started our first Book Donation Campaign for the RUBIC Center. One primary goal of the RUBIC Center is to provide up-to-date learning resources in the fields of Education, Special Education and Psychology. As key collaborator of RUBIC in this project, VnBookDrive collects and drives books in these particular fields from U.S universities and libraries to the RUBIC Resource Center in Hanoi.

The RUBIC Center will provide access to a variety of previously unavailable or inaccessible materials.  It is a place for parents, educators and the community  to meet, learn, share experiences and discuss critical issues in special education, so that together we can better understand and support as many children, regardless of their mental or physical conditions, achieve to their fullest. Do you know that with love and support,  children with autism, down syndrome or a physical difficulty can also go to school? Find a job? Live on their own? Would you like to give out a helping hand?

The RUBIC Vietnam team is preparing to open the Center in Hanoi in October 2015. To support that, VnBookDrive and RUBIC representatives aim to collect 250 books in the above-mentioned fields. Those books will be sort and archived during this year's Annual Book Day on August 7th in Austin - Texas. Visit our website or Like us on Facebook for more exciting updates on our progress!!!
