How we work
The initiative was first started in June 2007 by launching a campaign to collect used textbooks donated by professors and students across campuses in the US where fellows of the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) were studying. Books and other educational resources are made available through donations solicited, collected and delivered by the Vietnam Book Drive team. By the end of the year, more than a thousand books were collected; a thousand of them were selected to be shipped to libraries in Vietnam. The network of new libraries will serve as an important learning resource for partner institutions.
As the main partners and beneficiaries of this project, participating universities provide physical facilities and administrative staff for the newly established libraries. Since its first campaign, the initiative has attracted a great deal of enthusiastic participation of many Vietnamese students around the world and successfully established its first library at the Hanoi University of Technology (HUT), named VEFFA-HUT library in June 2008. We now keep on working to build similar libraries for other universities in need.
The Project welcomes and seeks partnerships with organizations or individuals who desire to help students in Vietnam access to knowledge worldwide.
